Overdose Awareness Day 2023 Events

Join us for Hoops for Hope Pick-Up Basketball Tournament & BBQ!

 

August 26th, 11 AM - 3 PM in Williams Park on Newbury St. in Bangor. 

 

To sign up you'll need a team of four, five bucks, and your most creative team name - pretty simple! We'll be accepting cash or Venmo on the day of for team registrations ($5 per team). To register your team click here: https://forms.gle/kJeMg2WErNmjWHuN7  

 

We're raising funds for our Harm Reduction team to purchase and distribute overdose prevention supplies like naloxone! Want to make a direct donation for the purchase of naloxone, click here! https://healthequityalliance.salsalabs.org/HoopsForHope  

 

Bring your appetite for some tasty food and get ready to play some basketball! Check-in is at the HEAL Bangor Office parking lot on the corner of Hancock Street and Newbury Street!

Join us for the Overdose Awareness Day Community Gathering, on August 31st in Norumbega Park at 6:30 PM.

Community Walk - We'll be meeting at Norumbega Park to walk as a group through Downtown Bangor. The walk will begin at 6:45 PM.

We encourage you to bring signs, pictures of loved ones, or anything else you'd like to walk with to show the community what we're coming together for.

Open Time to Speak - There will be open time for community members to share their stories, share messages of hope, and to not only remember loved ones we've lost, but uplift and celebrate those who have experienced overdose and are still here with us.

Enjoy Food & Beverages - There will be free food and beverages for the community to enjoy.

Organized in collaboration by: Health Equity Alliance, Bangor Area Recovery Network, Together Place Peer Run Recovery Center, Wabanaki Public Health and Wellness, and Wellspring.
