Keep Calm and Carry Naloxone!
It's the middle of summer. That means sweltering heat, dependence on cold drinks and (hopefully, functioning) air conditioning units, and planning for our Keep Calm and Carry Naloxone (KCCN) social fundraising campaign as well as our International Overdose Awareness Day event on August 31!
Over the course of 2017, 418 Mainers lost their lives to opioid overdose. We at HEAL believe that this is 418 lives too many.
In order to combat the surmounting number of opioid-related deaths, we are putting on our KCCN social fundraising event yet again to raise money to purchase 418 doses of Naloxone in memory of the Mainers we lost last year. This Naloxone will be distributed to people who use drugs and others affected by opioid use around the state.
If you didn't know already, the Health Equity Alliance provides free Naloxone training and distribution at all of our locations on a walk-in basis. These trainings take about 15 minutes and are given by one of our staff members.
Our Keep Calm and Carry Naloxone campaign will go live on August 1 and will end on August 31 at our International Overdose Awareness Day event in Pickering Square in Bangor! We also have prize levels will cool "Keep Calm" swag to help motivate our fundraisers!
